Volunteers in the court
Protect All Children Today (PACT)
Protect All Children Today (PACT) provides free support and information to help victims and witnesses understand court processes.
With the help of volunteers from the local community, PACT support volunteers offer their time and experience to help people within the criminal justice system.
PACT does not provide legal advice, but can provide information and may be able to arrange a support person to help a witness as they give evidence, if required.
PACT volunteers can:
- provide support and information about what happens before, during or after court
- explain how the courts and legal systems operate
- help to arrange access to a secure room if required
- assist victims to complete Victim Impact Statements
- talk to court users on their day of court either before or after their matter has been heard.
PACT helps victims and witnesses (not defendants) and operates a service that is available statewide throughout Queensland.
PACT will normally support victims and witnesses involved in cases that will be heard in the:
- Supreme Court
- District Court
- Childrens Court
- Magistrates Court.
Please note: PACT does not offer support in the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) or the Family Law Court.
Contact PACT for more information.
Queensland Homicide Victims Support Group (QHVSG)

- in person support for members during committal hearings, trials and sentencing
- liaising with stakeholders
- connecting with members over the telephone
- administrative support.
QHVSG provides statewide services to support people in the aftermath of homicide.
